Countersunk Head Self-Tapping Screws

Countersunk self-tapping screws, commonly known as flat-head self-tapping screws, are universal fasteners that combine flush, seamless fastening with convenient installation. Their core characteristic is the combination of a standard 90° tapered countersunk head with a self-tapping threaded shank.

Unlike pan-head or round-head screws, the tapered countersunk head can be completely embedded into pre-drilled holes in the workpiece. After installation, the screw head sits flush with the material surface—leaving no protrusions or screw marks. This design ensures both aesthetic appeal and operational safety, effectively preventing issues such as scraping hands, snagging materials, or interfering with assembly. Furthermore, there is no need for decorative caps, making them ideal for high-finish surface applications. The tapered surface ensures uniform stress distribution, providing a more stable connection without cracking wood or thin plastic boards.

The shank features self-tapping threads and a sharp tip, allowing the screw to drill directly into substrates such as wood, plastic, thin sheet metal, and medium-density fiberboard (MDF) without the need for pre-tapping or the use of matching nuts, resulting in efficient and labour-saving installation. They are typically equipped with Phillips or Torx (star) drive recesses, making them compatible with power tools and suitable for automated assembly lines. Available in materials including zinc-plated carbon steel and stainless steel for rust resistance and durability, these screws come in a full range of specifications and are widely used in scenarios requiring high surface flatness, such as panel furniture, appliance casings, electronic housings, interior trim panels, and decorative wood finishes.
